About

The Leu Gardens in Orlando are truly a sight to see. Just a short drive away from the downtown area, you’ll find a breathtaking 50-acre botanical oasis. This garden was originally donated to the City of Orlando in 1961 and is named after its original owners, Harry and Mary Jane Leu. Today, visitors come from far and wide to discover the beauty of the gardens, whether they’re simply exploring the grounds or participating in a special event.

Of course, the gardens have tons of visitors who simply want to explore the grounds and relax in the beauty of nature. However, Leu Gardens also hosts tons of fun events, from weddings and private affairs to classes, tours, field trips, and more. There’s always something fun going on here on the grounds!

The Gardens

When you arrive at the gardens, you’ll be invited to stroll through and embark on a self-guided tour. The Garden House Welcome Center can provide Guest Guides and Maps to help you plan your journey around the property. As you explore, you’ll see that many of the garden signs display QR codes, which you can scan with your phone’s camera to unlock even more details about the breathtaking plant life you see around you. Azaleas, roses, oaks, elms, and bromeliads are just a few of the things you can hope to see at Leu Gardens.

Leu House Museum

You won’t just learn about flowers and nature when you visit Leu Gardens. Be sure to take some time to explore the Leu House Museum as well! This restored 19th century home has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places and now tells the stories of the four families who owned the home before it was opened to the public.

The house was constructed in 1858 by the Mizell family before passing to the Pell/Gardners and the Woodward family in the early 1900s. In 1936, Harry and Mary Jane Leu purchased the property, building the land into the stunning gardens we see today. Take some time to explore the home and all its history while you’re on the grounds!

Art at Leu Gardens

Of course, the collection of flowers and plant life here at Leu Gardens is truly a work of art in and of itself. However, the property does host more traditional art displays as well! At Leu Gardens, you can find several impressive permanent exhibits, such as those by naturalist Mulford B. Foster and artists Bill Rollo, John Catterall, and Chrissie Mervine. There are also all kinds of beautiful rotating exhibits coming through the gardens, which means you can visit again and again and always see something new! Plus, you can view these incredible pieces of art at no additional cost.
